Protecting our patients and staff during COVID-19
7/22/2020
During the COVID-19 outbreak, Newberry Hospital has remained open and dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality care. We continue to treat patients every day while operating under strict safety protocols to protect patients, visitors and staff. COVID-19 has undoubtedly caused a lot of uncertainty and fear within Newberry, SC and beyond, but we want to assure you our team is doing everything we can to keep you and your loved ones safe. If you have an upcoming appointment scheduled or you need to make an emergency visit to the hospital, even for reasons other than COVID-19, please read our new precautions to learn about everything we’re doing to keep you safe.
What to expect at your next appointment
Although your next trip to the hospital might look a little different, our mission will always be the same: to put our patients first. Under current CDC guidelines, we require all patients to wear a mask when they are in the hospital to protect themselves and others inside the building. Patients will also be asked to enter through the Emergency Department even in the case of an appointment. You will then have your temperature taken and be asked a series of screening questions. Signs of a fever is one of the most common symptoms of coronavirus.
If you have a MRI or rehabilitation appointment, please register for your appointment at the rehabilitation desk located within the Professional Building instead of coming into the hospital. This extra safety measure limits the number of individuals entering and leaving the hospital to further ensure the safety of our staff and patients.
Our staff is doing everything possible to make you feel comfortable and confident coming into the hospital for your appointments. Since social distancing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus, we are doing everything we can to keep a safe distance of at least six feet from one another while inside the hospital. We recommend everyone in Newberry to do the same, both when they’re in the hospital and out in the community. Please continue booking necessary appointments and take care of your health during COVID-19. We’re here to help you through this difficult time by guiding you through your next appointment every step of the way.
If you do not have an appointment but require emergency medical attention, do not hesitate to visit Newberry Hospital. Our Emergency Department (ED) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are always available to assist you when needed. With these precautions in place, it is completely safe to come to the hospital for emergencies not related to coronavirus.
Visitors & closures
At this time, we are still unable to allow visitors into the hospital. We know it’s difficult to be apart from loved ones during this time but we want to reassure you this protocol is in place to protect everyone at Newberry Hospital. The Wellness Center, Café and Gift Shop will also remain closed until further notice. Thank you for your understanding and patience throughout these past few months. We are committed to keeping the community safe and will continue to abide by CDC recommendations.
Recommendations and guidelines are changing daily and our policies will continue to grow and change with them. Stay up to date by liking and following our Facebook page. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
