"The added dimension of exceptional health care with a personal touch"

Welcome
Welcome to the NCMH Volunteer Services web page. Thank you for visiting. We hope you consider joining our dedicated group to become a valued member of the NCMH family. Please feel free to call me at 405-7130 to discuss the many volunteering possibilities.

Who Are We?
Our volunteers come from many different geographic areas and they vary in age, background, personality, interests and skills. The one thing all our volunteers have in common is their desire to help. Last year, our volunteers gave over 8,400 hours of service to our hospital.

What Do We Offer?
At NCMH, we have many opportunities to use your talents as a volunteer. You may volunteer regularly or on an "as needed basis". Healthcare is changing, and so are our volunteer needs. We can work together to match our needs with your schedule. We also have special projects coordinated through our department, including the need for "virtual volunteers" (those folks that enjoy sharing their computer skills and talents).

Why Volunteer?
By joining our team at NCMH, you can and will make a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and visitors as well as the hospital staff. Your service will provide comfort and assistance to families and friends in our community. And, YOU will receive the satisfaction in knowing that you have contributed to the health and well being of those you served.

Junior Volunteer Summer Program

It will be...
June 14 - July 30, 2010

What Is The Junior Volunteer Program?
A program designed for students with an interest in healthcare. Program participation is an excellent way to expose area students to exciting healthcare options and service possibilities.

Who Can Participate?
Students 14-18 years of age, who are enrolled in middle or high school and high school traduates waiting to enter college. The program lasts for 7 weeks. Students must attend 6 of the 7 weeks.

How to Apply!
Guidance Counselors at Newberry County Schools receive the applications in February. They must be completed and returned to the hospital on a date which will be on the application.

What Happens Next?
All applications are reviewed for completeness. Those applications completed properly, & submitted by the deadline will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Each applicant will receive a letter outlining the status of his/her application.

Students accepted into the Junior Volunteer Program are required to have a tuberculin skin test (provided by the hospital). Each student participating in the summer program must also complete the hospital orientation. Orientation is held prior to the program starting & is mandatory. There are no make-up sessions.

All of us at NCMH enjoy having Junior Volunteers. Be part of this group of young people who serve, learn and have fun, too!

Volunteer Services is devoted to complementing hospital staff in upholding the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Mission of providing Exceptional Healthcare to all patients.
